Xplorations - Desi Maxwell’s Teaching Ministry

Desi Maxwell says:

“I was born in the middle of the last century. However, the older I get, the more excited and enthusiastic I am about studying and teaching the Bible. I owe so much to so many who have taught me and I simply want to share what I have been given wherever He takes me.”

Born and raised in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, formal education took Desi through Ballymena Academy, on to the University of Ulster then Westminster and Princeton Theological seminaries in the USA. After seven years of pastoral ministry, three in Canada and four in Belfast, Desi began two decades of teaching at Belfast Bible College. Desi remains a senior teaching fellow of the college.

Desi says, “I have discovered the truth of the old adage that you never learn until you teach and my learning has been enriched by opportunities in Eastern Europe, Africa, Central Asia and North America as well as all over the British Isles.”

As a devout family man, Desi’s ministry has been richly enhanced by the three ladies in his life who are an unfailing source of love and practical support: Heather, Desi’s wife and adult daughters Rachel and Vicky.

'To study is to worship'

To mark 25 years on the Glenburn campus, there will be a thanksgiving service at 7.30pm on Friday, September 5th. All former students and lecturers are particularly invited.
Desi Maxwell will speak on the value of study as worship.
